We've wanted to have a kit out in the wild for a long time, but we weren't going to settle for something cheap, quick or generically unisex.
That's why we're delighted that, with the help of Attacus Cycing, we've managed to make a jersey that is simple and classy, reflects our beautiful but tough environment and is manufactured separately in Men's and Women's cuts. It's also going to help positively promote women's racing in the Cold Dark North.
The heartlands of the Cold Dark North cover the North West of the UK from Preston to Penrith and from the Atlantic to Aysgarth. The vast terrain of The Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland are subtly different but all have one stark similarity: they are full of "stabby bastard hills". So our jersey features lots of them. Designed brilliantly by Chris Hall to bring those suffering slopes into the fabric of our kit.
More than just spreading the word about the Cold Dark North and beautiful hills and valleys in which we ride and race, we wanted our kit to make a difference too.
We've teamed up with our sponsors Jam Cycling and their UniCycle Fund so that all of the profits (and we do mean all of them!) from each jersey sale will go into the Fund and be ring-fenced to support Women's racing in the North through The Racing Chance Foundation and Ride Like A Girl Race Series. Each jersey proudly features the UniCycle Logo on the side-panels.
Sadly, we've missed the August factory closures so there's a longer period in which to order the jersey. This one time only order window is open until midnight on 25 August 2019.
After the window closes we'll submit all the orders together and the jerseys should arrive 8-10 weeks later. Hopefully it'll be sooner, but it's important to set clear expectations - this is a pre-production order and the jerseys will take a little while to make. They're worth it though!
